The Wendy and Emery Reves Collection at the Dallas Museum of Art Dallas
Friday, 10/30/2009 thru Thursday, 10/30/2014
Where:  Third Floor, Dallas Museum of Art Phone:  (214) 922-1200

Visit the Wendy and Emery Reves Collection on the Museum’s third floor, which is acclaimed for its many important Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works of art. Twenty-five years ago, the Dallas Museum of Art received a one-of-a-kind gift of more than 1,400 works authorized by Wendy Reves in honor of her late husband, Emery Reves. In addition to Impressionist, Post-Impressionist, and modern paintings, it included sculptures, works on paper, and decorative arts objects, all of which are displayed in a recreation of the Reves’s Riviera home, Villa La Pausa. This spectacular bequest transformed the DMA’s collection of late 19th century French art and her donation of European decorative arts founded the institution’s collection in that area.

A special audio tour highlights selected masterpieces from the Reves Collection, including works by Edouard Manet, Paul Cezanne, Camille Pissarro, Auguste Renoir, Claude Monet, Paul Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Pierre Bonnard, and Maurice de Vlamnick. New materials on the Reves Collection that can be accessed on Wi-Fi enabled smartphones and media players will also be available for the first time.

Presented by ICT MainStage, music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Bob Merrill and book by Peter Stone. Based on the screenplay Some Like It Hot by Billy Wilder and I.A.L. Diamond. Based on a story by Robert Thoeren. It’s 1929 and two down-and-out musicians happen to witness the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre. They’re desperate to get out of Chicago before the mob gets them too. So, they dress up as women and join an all girl band heading for Florida. Unforgettable hilarity ensues as one of the musicians falls for Sugar, the band’s lead singer; while the other is trying to avoid a rich suitor who won’t take “no” for an answer. All the while, the mob is hot on their trail. G
