DALLAS/FORT WORTH, Texas (December 9, 2008) – The Dallas/Fort Worth Area Tourism Council (DFWATC), area Convention & Visitors Bureaus, the Hotel Association of Greater Dallas, various transportation partners, and the D/FW International Airport have partnered together to create an unprecedented training opportunity for front-line employees to increase both guest service levels and the economic impact of tourism in the North Texas region.
As the first destination in Texas, and one of the top ten cities in the U.S. to implement the CTA (Certified Tourism AmbassadorTM) program, the Dallas/Fort Worth Area Ambassadors Program (DFWAAP) is designed to promote tourism by creating a culture of hospitality so that front-line hospitality employees and volunteers understand it at its core and are inspired to make every Dallas/Fort Worth & Beyond visit a positive experience for the traveler.
The program will be managed by the DFWATC, who has collaborated with a team of consultants, focus groups and the partnering organizations to develop the curriculum, which will be delivered through reading assignments and in-class participation (one, half-day session) discussing: The Power of Tourism; Discovering the D/FW Area and Beyond; Knowing, Finding, Using Resources; and Exceeding Customer Expectations.
“The launch of the CTA program in the Dallas/Fort Worth area will not only strengthen our destination as it relates to customer service and the overall visitor experience, but will also bring together new partnerships within the region that will ultimately benefit us all, including such large North Texas events such as the Super Bowl. We are excited to be the first to launch this program in Texas, and are looking forward to sending thousands of front-line employees through this program.” states Marla Roe, Chair of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area Tourism Council and Executive Director of the Frisco CVB.
The DFWAAP will launch the first classes in April 2009.
