Thousands of Football Fans to Flock to DFW for Super Bowl XLV

DALLAS/FORT WORTH, TX – Certainly, the Super Bowl XLV is a day-long adventure for football fans, but any trip to the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the big game wouldn’t be complete without spending a few days in the area just for fun. The Dallas/Fort Worth Area Tourism Council has just launched a new website, www.visitdallas-fortworth.com, that offers the best of D/FW in 12 pre-packaged “tours” suited to different vacation interests, from nature-appreciating to thrill-seeking. Those planning ahead for the 2011 game can peruse the best of the Metroplex via their mouse and start outlining their super vacation.

Click on the “Thrill Seeker” button and you are shown Texas Motor Speedway, Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, and Six Flags. For the “Shopaholic,” the site lists NorthPark Center, The Parks at Arlington, and the Allen Premium Outlets. The “All About Kids” tour includes Dinosaur Valley State Park, Fort Worth Museum of Science & History and Louis Tussaud’s Palace of Wax & Ripley’s Believe it or Not. And, of course, there is a “Sports” section!
The website is part of the Council’s new campaign, “Dallas, Fort Worth and Beyond! Where Will Your Story Begin?” It’s a combined effort between 44 communities including Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving, Grand Prairie and Grapevine through a cooperative marketing organization formed in 1978 to bring together segments of the Metroplex to promote the area as a business and vacation destination.

“‘Dallas-Fort Worth & Beyond’ is proud to be the centerpiece of the winning North Texas bid for the 2011 Super Bowl,” said Linda Howell DiMario, President and CEO of the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau, the city where the Super Bowl XLV will actually be played. “This regional marketing program epitomizes our cooperation and our rich destination offerings. Every city in North Texas will have the opportunity to showcase its community through a variety of special events and activities in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl. It is an extraordinary opportunity for all North Texas cities, residents and businesses.”

The new campaign and website design result from the Council’s research, which shows that some of the area’s main strengths – world-class shopping, a variety of outdoor adventures and opportunities, festivals and fairs, major-league sports, activities of interest for all ages, and proximity and easy access – are important to travelers when deciding where to vacation. Surely, these are also the finer points made by Roger Staubach and Jerry Jones when pitching Dallas/Fort Worth to the Super Bowl Committee!
